The Associate Athletics Director- Strategic Communications and Management reports directly to the Director of Athletics and works closely with the Deputy Director of Athletics. The incumbent is responsible for positively influencing the external dialogue about UC San Diego Athletics through expertise in communication methods, information flow, media relations and brand management. Connecting Triton Athletics to our wide and varied audiences through a variety of communication channels. The Associate AD will be responsible for the supervision, management, staffing and production of all broadcasts and live streaming for UC San Diego Athletics events. The position is also responsible for overseeing and directing the media and public relations staff, and the content and production of the Triton website, as well as the Department’s public information messaging, audio visual, television and internet streaming, as well as coordination with the Associate AD Marketing on all social media. The Associate AD will coordinate with University Communications and oversee Athletics Department publicity and media relations strategies in conjunction with campus messaging, handle media inquiries, and develop and maintain contacts with local and national media. In addition, the incumbent will oversee specific support functions of athletic programs, and direct the sport specific game day operations of all home Intercollegiate Athletics and championship events. Sport supervision is also an opportunity for the Associate AD position and the individual will actively participate in strategic planning, manage daily operations, and participate in formulating, evaluating, interpreting and enforcing department policies.
