Assistant Swimming Coach Job Purpose Towson University, a Division I member of the Colonial Athletic Association, is seeking an Assistant Swimming Coach. This position, under the direction of the head coach, teaches and provides instruction in the sport of swimming and assists in the planning, promotion and administration of a quality Division I Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving program. Description The Assistant Swimming Coach will provide skill instruction for student athletes. This includes independent planning and implementation of a season long plan for a set group of athletes. Under the direction of the head coach, recruits and evaluates prospective student-athletes using New Media Technologies; organizes official visits, including assigning hosts; creates travel itineraries and manages all budgetary elements of visits while adhering to all NCAA regulations. Tracks all admissions through the application process of our prospective student-athletes. Assists with academic support, fundraising activities, community servicing including communication and outreach to Alumni. Coordinates with Life Skills Program Director to track and maintain accurate records of all student-athlete participation in Life Skills programs. Assists in all Meet Day operations including travel, bus, hotel, and restaurant plans. Issues equipment as directed by the Head Coach. Responsible for knowledge and adherence to NCAA rules. Completes monthly CARA logs, recruiting logs and other end-of-year summaries and correspondence within JUMPForward and in coordination with the Compliance Office. Performs other duties as assigned by Head Coach. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two years of successful swimming coaching experience at coaching experience at the college, professional, camp/clinic, club, or high school level. Must have current certifications in CPR, Lifeguard Training, and First Aid. Mastery of stroke mechanics and how to teach techniques in multiple ways. Able to develop and implement a season long plan for a group of student-athletes and to market the University to potential student-athletes. Must be able to use and manipulate Microsoft Office products, including, but not limited to, Excel, Word, and Outlook. Needs to have the ability to work collaboratively within the structure and framework of an Athletics Department and University. Also, should be able to lead a training session for both men and women confidently and competently. Master's degree and collegiate swimming experience preferred. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
