HomeAid Northern Virginia is a successful non-profit organization helping to provide housing and other essentials for today’s homeless. Every day, shelter organizations struggle to provide an increasing number of services to homeless families and individuals, even while funding for their programs shrinks. Unlike other housing charities, HomeAid relies on the generosity and expertise of professiona...l builders, trade partners, suppliers, manufacturers, and contractors to renovate and expand homeless shelters. HomeAid is able to provide construction services to shelters at little or no cost.
In 2001, members of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association (NVBIA) formed HomeAid Northern Virginia, a chapter of HomeAid America. Homebuilders believe that the best way to solve homelessness is to ensure everyone has a safe place to live. The industry has volunteered their time, resources, and expertise to help build and maintain housing and shelter facilities.
For the last 13 years, homebuilders, trade partners, manufacturers, suppliers, and subcontractors have generously donated more than $6.5 million to HomeAid’s projects – saving shelters more than 50% off construction costs that they have redirected back into programs and services for homeless families and individuals.
