During the Volunteer Coordinator's maternity leave, the temporary Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the daily management and coordination of Carpenter's Shelter's volunteer programs. Serves as the lead contact and supervisor for all volunteers and provides direction, coordination, and consultation for all volunteer functions within the Shelter.
Responsible for recruiting, screening, retaining, training and managing volunteers.
Maintains the volunteer database.
Manages monthly calendars for kitchen volunteers (3-meals daily), front desk, David's Place, Winter Shelter and children's programs.
Assists with fundraising coordination and special events.
Manages in-kind contributions.
Coordinates, accepts and acknowledges in-kind donations.
Shelter, Other Events and Outreach:
Organizes and conducts Shelter tours and orientations.
Coordinates and executes service/impact days.
Develops and maintains cooperative working relations with the community.
Update, revise and maintain the Shelter's public access video monitor with creativity and accuracy.
Writes and coordinates the monthly publication and distribution of the Volunteers newsletter and other social media outreach.
Participates in the communications strategy of the Shelter.
Works closely with the Development and Communications Associate to establish clear lines of inter-departmental communication and coordinated donor, volunteer and prospect management.
Perform all other duties as required.
Requires BA or BS degree.
Experience in volunteer coordination for a mid-sized nonprofit organization.
Proficient in Volgistics, Raiser's Edge, Omatic and Luminate.
Ability to work late evenings and weekends on occasion.
A friendly outgoing disposition.
