The Director is responsible for the management of athletic administrative staff and coaching personnel, including recruitment, evaluation and assessment. The Director is responsible for efficiently managing all fiscal operations, including preparation and administration of the department’s annual operating budget.
The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following functions, which are not listed in any particular order of important or significance: • Serves as the Senior Administrator of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, creating and reinforcing an environment for a competitive and respected intercollegiate sports program that is committed to student athlete success. • Articulate the philosophy, guiding principles, strategic goals and learning outcomes of the WU Athletics department. • Recommends, creates, and implements long and short-term strategic plan goals and operational plans for the department. • As a member of the campus community, the Director builds effective alliances internally and externally and initiates and develops strong working relationships with faculty, staff, alumni and community members. • Oversees the proper application of all applicable rules and policies, certifies participation eligibility for athletes, represents the department as it relates to University policy and operations, and directs all operations and meetings of the Department of Athletics. • Serves as the President’s University representative at athletic meetings and events. Works with internal and external stakeholders such as; parents, alumni, campus visitors, Admissions, Northwest Conference (NWC), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). • Supervises and participates in the development, implementation, and management of all Department of Intercollegiate Athletics related budgets. • Serves as department representative to the athletic booster group Executive Committee. Seeks out and recruits prospective new members, directs monthly meetings, and serves as the budget controller on behalf of the Executive Committee. • Leads, administers, and manages the principles of Athletics administration, budgeting and personnel management, NCAA III and NWC rules and regulations, Title IX compliance, gender equity and diversity. • Serves as supervisor of Athletics management positions. • Supervises all Intercollegiate Athletics Department personnel. Oversees and assists each coach with the budgeting and operation of their sport as well as oversees student evaluation of each coach and sport. • Works with the Office of University Advancement and serves as primary development person for the department. • Serves as coordinator for all administrative evaluations. • Shares responsibility of game management. • Performs other duties as assigned.
This is a full-time, year round position. This position is eligible for the University’s generous benefits package that includes: medical/dental insurance, sick and vacation accruals, contribution of 10% of gross base pay from the University in exchange for a mandatory contribution of 1% by the employee, tuition remission, and holidays.
