The Senior Director of Philanthropy for the College of Medicine plans and executes fundraising strategies in support of the strategic priorities of the College, including its clinical and academic/research missions. As a dual report to the Dean of the College of Medicine and the Vice President for Philanthropy, this position is responsible for meeting bold philanthropy goals in the impending capital campaign and beyond to enable the College to achieve its short-term and long-term strategic priorities. The Senior Director leads all philanthropy activities for the College including the College of Medicine Alumni and Development program, with a heavy emphasis on philanthropic goal setting and attainment in coordination with the UK Office of Philanthropy. In addition, this position works closely with the Dean to strategize and maintain a donor portfolio of major and principal gift prospects. This individual can expect to travel throughout the United States to visit prospects and donors.
The ideal candidate will be a strong, collaborative leader with a proven record of success in building and sustaining relationships that foster major gift giving. This position requires an individual who understands person-to-person relationships and can convincingly articulate the vision and priorities of the College and University and match them to the interests of prospective donors. The successful candidate will have strong analytical and qualitative research experience; be well organized; have exceptional communication skills (written & verbal); strong ability to engage and motivate others; active listening skills; and a thorough understanding of Gift cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. Familiarity with planned giving, charitable gift arrangements as well as demonstrated experience in marketing, philanthropic messaging and persuasive writing is also desirable.
Minimum requirements for this position are a Bachelor's degree and 10 years of related experience or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
