Position: Assistant Coach Football Student-Athlete Player Development 12 Month, 100% Academic Professional Appointment
Primary Position Function/Summary: Manage all on-campus activities of student-athletes in the Football program
Manage all on-campus activities including but not limited to: • Manage and coordinate all on campus admissions for incoming freshman and transfers. • Direct instructional guest speaker and programs in order to further the social education of the football student-athletes. • Facilitate and develop campus relationships. • Manage transition period for student-athletes coming from high school to college campus. • Liaison with Associate Athletics Director, Academic Services for football staff. • Manage all discipline issues for football student-athletes on and off campus. • Coordinate on-campus housing for incoming freshman as well as transfer students.
Manage all correspondents for all football recruits and players including but not limited to: • Questionnaires for high school recruits and high school coaches. • Assist follow up with Compliance Office on each signee. • Assist as football admissions coordinator. Review high school and junior college transcripts for football prospects and administer a pre-evaluation to determine recruitability and institutional fit. Works with compliance staff to determine NCAA initial and transfer eligibility for each recruit. • Direct each recruit through the admissions cycle • Coordinate, review and advise department staff on transferability and applicability of non-University of Illinois courses that may affect ongoing requirements • Direct football player student-athlete life skills program. • Coordinate NLFeducation program. • Coordinate and direct communication with parents and guardians of student-athletes. • Advise on special eligibility requirements, particularly as it pertains to NCAA and Big Ten Conference rules and regulations. Manage all official visits for football recruits: • Work with potential student athletes Guidance Office to obtain copies of current transcripts, test scores, and school officials signature per NCAA rules prior to campus visit • Arrange and direct campus tours for recruits during visits. • Account for all guests at each meal per NCAA rules. • Assist with all athletic ticket requests for official and unofficial visits for recruits, parents or legal guardians, student-athlete hosts and recruiting coaches.
Manage all unofficial campus visits for prospective recruits: • Correspondence and record keeping for athletic compliance. • Schedule, supervise and manage all student employees during visits. • Direct assistant coaches to gather and share information regarding recruits (invites, family names, guest, etc.).
Maintain knowledge of, and compliance with, specific NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and institution rules that relate to this position is required.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. START DATE: As soon as possible after closing date.
