The Director of Meetings, Education and Marketing will plan, coordinate, and execute association meetings, events, and educational programs to educate the membership and broader rail industry, and to provide a venue for networking and idea sharing among peers. In addition, this individual will develop and guide implementation of a strategic marketing plan and collateral materials to promote association events, program offerings and membership services.
In collaboration with the Director of Strategic Communications, this individual will write content and provide editorial support for association publications including a quarterly magazine and weekly e-newsletters, as well as conceive and guide social media strategy.
This position requires close collaboration and coordination with all individuals on the Marketing, Communications, Education and Membership teams, as well as other departments and individuals, in particular Vice President of Safety & Compliance and Vice President of Safety & Regulatory Policy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Meeting Planning and Logistics: The Director of Meetings, Education & Marketing will serve as the primary planner for Regional Meetings, the Finance & Administration Seminar and General Counsel Symposium, and Annual Training Seminars, including those planned and held in conjunction with the FRA, member railroads, and other organizations. This individual will also assist in planning and on-site logistics and support for Railroad Day on Capitol Hill and the ASLRRA Annual Convention, in addition to serving as general session scripting / stage manager for regional and annual meetings.
Education and Training: In collaboration with the VP of Education and Business Services, this individual will work with subject matter experts to conceive, design and deliver industry-specific educational programming, online, on-demand, and in person, using the latest technology platforms, formats and procedures, and identify/implement innovative new practices to engage attendees and enhance education takeaways. Priority education initiatives include: Live and On-Demand Webinars (identify topics, cultivate speakers, coordinate, schedule, and assist in content delivery); Online Training & Certification (launch an e-learning platform for delivering targeted educational content); and Short Line Education Fund (coordinate logistics for meeting-based fundraising events).
Marketing and Communications: This individual will conceive and oversee a strategic marketing plan to highlight and promote association events, programs, and member services; write and oversee creation of print and electronic marketing collateral; and, facilitate development of membership recruitment and retention materials. In collaboration with Director of Strategic Communications, individual will write and coordinate content and provide editorial support for association’s quarterly magazine and weekly e-newsletters, and conceive and guide social media strategy.
