As the chief executive officer of the Texas Library Association, the Executive Director is responsible for successful leadership and management of the organization according to the strategic direction set by the Executive Board. The Executive Director ensures the advancement of TLA’s goals, objectives, strategic plans, and standards. Extensive public contact is required.
Leads the association in a manner that engages the members, promotes growth and excellence, and supports and guides the organization’s mission, as defined by the Executive Board and Council.
Provides, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
Interprets and administers association policies. Collaborates with the Executive Board to develop and implement policy.
Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health and well-being of the organization. Ensures maximum resource utilization and maintains the organization in a positive financial position.
Inspires and broadens the members and staff to create new leaders and promote high levels of member involvement.
Engages members in the vision and mission of the organization; works with the Board and staff to plan and implement programs that carry out the organization’s mission and carry the association to the next level.
Collaborates and fosters relationships with various organizations throughout the state and utilizes these relationships strategically to enhance the association’s mission.
Represents the association to the organization’s members and constituents, the media, and the general public
