The Director of Development is responsible for developing and managing all aspects of Granville Christian Academy’s fundraising initiatives and activities as well as managing and supervising any related staff. The Director is a highly collaborative and motivated person who will be responsible for developing the technology, systems, and processes that leverage all aspects from donor acquisition to long-term donor loyalty to major and estate gifts. The 10 year goal is that 50% of GCA’s revenue budget will come from avenues other than tuition. The Director is a full time position and will work with the Administration and School Board to develop and implement a detailed short and long term strategic plan for fund-raising.
Additionally, the Director of Development will sign a statement of faith that aligns his or her core beliefs with that of the school. The Director will be fully committed to the GCA mission and expected student outcomes to provide a quality college preparatory education in an intentional Christ-honoring community of faith, belief and practice. The Director will attend a bible-believing church.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General responsibilities include the following; other essential duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
With the Administration and School Board, develop a short-term and long-term strategic operational plan for sustainable fund-raising activities and appropriate marketing strategies.
Develop a detailed plan and yearly budget including timeline and calendar of activities for the Development office
Create a comprehensive giving program that increases donor loyalty and long-term value to GCA from acquisition to major and estate donors
Plan and implement all annual and capital campaign fundraising appeals and activities and development events with excellence
Develop and maintain an excellent working relationship with other organizations in the community, ensuring the school is well received and presented professionally and positively
Review and assess gift processing systems and procedures for maximum accuracy and efficiency
Identify and rate donor prospects through prospect research and data mining and develop relationships
Manage and directly supervise any temporary or permanent Administrative or Clerk positions relating to development.
Work with the Administrator to develop collateral marketing strategies and materials to support fund-raising initiatives
Track campaign analytics for effectiveness
Develop an alumni network along with a system to capture data on alumni, parents, and grandparents.
Lead GCA in assessing and implementing alternative giving methods that help attract a younger generation of supporters who give via text, Electronic Funds Transfer, the internet, smartphones and mobile devices
Work to build the capacity of GCA to support the entire development process of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, with the ability to generate up-to-date reports, projections and summaries of activities for review by the Superintendent and the School Board
Additional duties as deemed necessary by Management
QUALIFICATIONS – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
5+ years of past experience, preferably for a Christian organization such as a school or church, with success supervising development activities
A current member of (or willing to join) the Association of Fundraising Professionals
Collaborates and works well with others yet has the ability to work independently
Visionary leadership skills that are results-driven
Highly organized and flexible in order to balance and prioritize multiple projects and requests concurrently
Develops relationships with others in the school and community
Excellent follow-up skills, including acknowledgement of donations
Ability to apply and leverage technology to build the capacity of an entire Development Department
Ability to supervise alumni cultivation and solicitation
Experience and proficiency at writing grant proposals
Ability to write content for fundraising materials
Experience developing budgets and proficiency in financial management
Communicates well and provides informative reports to the Superintendent and the School Board.
Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and database management
Must have strong interpersonal communications skills, both verbal and written, and judgment and discretion with confidential information
