Primary Function: Plan, organize, and direct the University-sponsored Women’s basketball program.
Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Instruct student-athletes individually or in groups in techniques of game. 2. Organize and execute team practice and coaching. 3. Assess basketball players’ skills and assign team positions. 4. Evaluate own and opposing team capabilities to determine winning game strategy. 5. Participate in scheduling, planning, and travel arrangements for away competition. 6. Identify, evaluate, and encourage application and acceptance of student athletes in accordance with University, NCAA, and SAA policies and regulations. 7. Monitor team budget; purchase and ensure maintenance of basketball equipment and uniforms. 8. Manage and evaluate assistant coaching staff. 9. Participate in speaking engagements for the Sewanee Club and support community initiatives. 10. Instruct physical education course and perform collateral departmental duties as required.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field
Experience: 3 – 5 years coaching experience at high school or collegiate level or experience competing as an athlete at the collegiate level
