Under the direction of a Camp Program Director, the Basketball Specialist spends full time or nearly full time in the Basketball Activity area for which they have been hired based on their skill and expertise in basketball. The goal of the position is to guide and coach basketball for our male and female campers ages 10 – 16 of all ability levels.
Specific responsibilities: • Managing a 6 court sports pavilion • Matching the energy required to build a basketball program using a bran new sports facility • Prepare and lead instruction periods • Enhance skill level of campers while building confidence • Create instruction plans based on age groups needs • Develop fun and exciting ways to run program • Participate in the planning, teaching and leading of programs in the activity to which you have been assigned. • Carry out established roles in enforcing camp safety rules and regulations • Abide by all rules of the camp and set an example for campers • Participate in all aspects of camp activities as assigned • Be a part of the Project Morry Community • Perform other duties as assigned
• At least 20 years of age or above with related child care experience • Desire and ability to work with children in the outdoors • Ability to relate to one's peer group • Emotional Maturity • Flexible – able to adapt to different environments and schedules • Ability to teach and coach basketball to children • Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, self-control • Expertise or skill in basketball and strong assessment abilities • Desire and ability to be a team player • Enjoy and active lifestyle • Responsible and hardworking
