The Director of Development for Individual Giving will develop, implement, and lead a comprehensive fundraising strategy focused on identifying, cultivating, and soliciting individual donors and prospects including alumni, parents (current and past), friends, faculty, and staff. This position will lead fundraising initiatives and collaborate with senior administration, key volunteers, and Board members to integrate emerging university priorities into all aspects of donor contact, with the ultimate goal of maximizing financial support. Some evening and weekend work will be required. Regular travel will be required. Represent the University at special events, functions, or with partner organizations.
- Provide leadership and vision in the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic fundraising program for individuals. This includes direct oversight of all annual, major, planned, and campaign projects. Develop creative strategies for identifying and engaging diverse constituencies critical to the University’s fundraising goal.
- Build, maintain, and personally manage a portfolio of individual and major gift prospects/donors through cultivation, solicitation and directly solicit individuals, close on gifts, and ensure follow through on donor acknowledgement and retention efforts.
- Manage the major gifts program. Coordinate relationships amongst leadership volunteers, fundraisers, program representatives and senior leadership to help ensure a donor-centered approach that meets the university’s needs. Supervisor the Leadership Gifts Officer.
- Manage annual campaign(s) for assigned constituent groups, and provide leadership for new fundraising strategies and technology.Supervise the Assistant Director of Development in the strategy development, planning, execution and achievement of department goals, including but not limited to broad based communication, branding, and solicitation initiatives.
- Provide leadership for capital or endowment projects by determining for constituent groups viable fundraising plans, identifying appropriate donors, determining and implementing solicitation strategies, and directing and/or participating in activities around the university’s fundraising projects.
- Play an active role in the process of analyzing fundraising potential, setting objectives and achieving stated goals.
- Coordinate the writing production of campaign related materials correspondence, including, but not limited to, producing case statements, letters, brochures, pledge reminders and emails.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing,hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
