The Director of Fund Development is responsible for planning, implementation, management, and oversight of all fundraising and donor relations activities. She/he is responsible for management of day-to-day fundraising operations including: prospect identification and research; cultivation and communications strategies; proposal development: writing, submission, and tracking of grants; solicitations strategies; donor stewardship; database management; communications and outreach activities; and development of volunteer relations. Coordinates all council fundraising campaigns (annual giving, planned giving, special events, United Ways, capital campaigns and other council support).
While reporting to the COO, the Director of Fund Development works collaboratively and maintains clear and regular communications with the organization’s board of directors, Fund Development Committee, volunteer leadership and donor prospects.
Plans, implements, and manages the fund development program designed to meet the goals and objectives as defined by the strategic plan.
Oversees the incorporation of policies and procedures, mission, and vision in all development plans and volunteer committees.
Plans and implements multi-faceted fundraising campaigns that align with the Council’s short and long-term goals and activities and strategically incorporates prospects research, donor cultivation, gift solicitation and appropriate and timely stewardship.
Works with the CEO, Fund Development Committee, board of directors, and volunteer fundraising committees to plan, execute, and facilitate fundraising strategies.
Serves as the primary staff liaison with the Fund Development Committee and volunteer fundraising committees and as a resource to the board of directors on all matters related to fundraising.
Partners with CEO, Fund Development Committee, council board members, Leadership Council, and volunteers to identify, cultivate, and solicit potential significant donors to help meet funding goals for the council.
Creates the development of annual department budget and long-term strategic fund development plan.
Establishes and implements an annual calendar of fundraising activities to include cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Develops case for support of Girl Scouts of Greater Mississippi that aligns with immediate and long-term needs and opportunities that exist throughout the 45 county geographic areas and align with the Council’s overall priorities.
Plans, manages and implements fundraising events.
Oversees development and implementation of a comprehensive communications plan that strategically incorporates both the internal (families of girl members and volunteers) and external audiences.
Designs and implements a comprehensive development program and appropriate marketing strategies.
Directs the writing of funding proposals, direct mail letters, special event materials, and other fundraising support documentation.
Oversees the stewardship, gift accounting, and reporting functions, ensuring that all donors receive personal and timely acknowledgment of their gifts. Oversees the donor database.
