Reporting to the lead development officer for orthopaedics and surgery/transplant and as a member of the Community Relations & Development team, the Principal Gifts Officer will be responsible for the identification, qualification, cultivation and solicitation of prospective donors, concentrating on gifts of five, six and seven figures for the Department of Surgery/Transplant and the Department of Orthopaedics. While the Principal Gifts Officer will focus much attention on grateful patients, he/she will also develop relationships with new constituents, and other areas of medicine may be assigned based on donor interest. The ideal candidate will be an experienced development professional with a successful track record of raising five and six figure gifts. A minimum of seven years prior development/fundraising experience is preferred. He/She will have familiarity with large, complex institutions and knowledge of donor giving levels with donor-centered stewardship programs. Prior experience in a healthcare setting and/or knowledge of academic medicine is a plus. An undergraduate degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
