Director of Annual Giving

The University of Missouri-St. Louis is seeking applications for the position of Director of Annual Giving. Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Alumni Engagement, the Director will provide leadership to the Annual Giving team, overseeing and driving the strategy for a multi-channel, donor-centric communications program, including direct mail, telephone constituency engagement, crowdfunding, email and other strategies.
BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
Provide comprehensive leadership to the Annual Giving team, which includes strategically planning, directing and implementing annual fundraising programs partnering with Colleges/units, development officers, alumni engagement, major gifts, planned giving, corporate, Pierre Laclede Society and others; managing and forecasting the operating budget; and using data to analyze giving trends.
Set annual fundraising goals in consultation with key stakeholders and monitor progress toward goals.
Develop, establish and implement programs and strategies to raise annual funds for all university units and special projects.
Plan and monitor annual giving program budgets.
Provide leadership and management of comprehensive direct mail and e-solicitation programs.
Inform the community and alumni of University needs and policies in the area of fundraising, projects, and institutional needs. Communicate and report to donors as to the institutional uses of their gifts.
Meet with donors and non-donors on a regular basis to cultivate, solicit and steward annual gifts, and to understand their motivation for giving (or not giving).
Coordinate with Advancement Services in the maintenance and accuracy of annual giving donor records within Advancement database, file records and/or other records systems.
Ensure the stewardship of donors through acknowledgements and receipts working with Advancement Services.
Oversee the calling program, either through use of outside vendors or campus Call Center, to include hiring, training, quality control and processing of contacts.
Research the newest technologies and techniques in constituency outreach and design test segments to develop solicitation best practices.
Utilize data and analytics to drive solicitation and communication strategies.
Assist in other related areas as assigned.
A bachelor's degree in business administration, public relations, communications or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary. A master's degree is preferred.
Ability to develop trust and strong collaborative working relationships.
Ability to interact effectively in a comprehensive research university setting.
Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Five to seven years' experience in annual giving fundraising is necessary.
Salary will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
