Western Oregon University invites applicants for a one year Athletic Training Internship (10 month appointment, 0.833 FTE), unclassified position in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Western Oregon University in Monmouth. The Athletics department sponsors 13 intercollegiate sports for over 400 student-athletes. Western Oregon University is a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) and the NCAA Division II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Assist with providing medical service to men's & women's basketball, baseball, women’s volleyball, women’s soccer, and women’s softball teams. • Documentation of injury records and reporting, maintaining FERBA and HIPPA requirements • Collaborate with the team physician and other allied health-care professionals • Articulate with administrators, coaches, parents, and student-athletes within appropriate medical/legal requirements • Organize and participate in pre-participation physical examinations • Supervise student athletic trainer volunteers • Perform duties as assigned and commensurate with the normal activities related to athletic training service
WORKING CONDITIONS • Ability to work nights, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel with sports teams
Bachelor’s degree in Athletic training, Health, Exercise Science, or related field
NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer
Oregon State Registration, or be eligible for registration in the State of Oregon as an Athletic Trainer
Master’s degree in Sports Medicine or similar field of study
Graduate Assistantship providing athletic training service at the collegiate level
