The Membership Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of primary membership engagement vehicles: Chapters and Physician in Training programs.
Chapters provide a regional mechanism for networking and education. Physicians in Training (residents and students) represent the future of the specialty and programs aimed at increasing participation within this population are essential to the growth and stability of hospital medicine.
This position will support the Project Manager, Member Engagement, in administrative tasks associated with the strategic growth of Chapters and Physician in Training programming as a tool for membership acquisition and retention and will assist in utilizing these channels to support larger SHM national initiatives.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Coordinate and perform administrative support for the day-to-day operations of all SHM Chapters.
Gather, enter and/or update data for all chapter related meeting requests and reports.
Coordinate all elements of the chapter industry- funding process.
Conduct financial record keeping and invoice requests of all exhibitor payments and meeting expenses associated with chapter meetings.
Coordinate promotion of all chapter meetings, including email invitations and website updates.
Build relationships with and provide exceptional customer service and support to volunteer leaders and members via email, telephone and at onsite events.
Maintain all chapter related content on the SHM website.
Support volunteer leaders in the coordination of meetings and conference calls.
Assist and track with member acquisition through the chapter channel.
Maintain records related to established compliance guidelines and assist with the annual staff evaluation of chapters.
Assist with the coordination of discussion topics on SHM’s online networking community, Hospital Medicine Exchange (HMX).
Physicians in Training (Residents and Students) Program:
Assist in the planning and coordination of resident and student focused events.
Research and conduct outreach to residency programs and medical student programs to communicate the value of SHM.
Compile and organize grant applications for the Student Hospitalist Scholar Grant.
Compile and organize grant applications for the Resident Travel Grant.
Assist with membership related projects as requested.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business administration or related field required.
1-2 years’ experience in customer service or association management setting a plus.
Experience in membership organizations a plus.
Extremely organized and detail-oriented with the ability to create project plans and see a project from start to finish.
Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; proficiency working with databases.
