The Brandywine Valley SPCA is the first open admission shelter in Pennsylvania to achieve No Kill status and serves as the only open admission shelter for both Chester and Delaware Counties. We care for nearly 5,000 stray, owner-surrendered, wayward owned, and abused and neglected animals each year and we are finding homes or other placement for over 90% of the homeless pets that enter our shelter.... Through our dedication to maintaining an open door policy and our commitment to lifesaving and second chances, the Brandywine Valley SPCA is creating a No Kill community.
The Brandywine Valley SPCA has expanded its reach to the State of Delaware, with a shelter and clinic in New Castle. In addition, the Brandywine Valley SPCA entered a three year contract with the State of Delaware in 2016 to provide Animal Sheltering and Adoption for the Office of Animal Welfare who handles Animal Cruelty. Stray and confiscated dogs will be brought to BVSPCA’s new shelter in New Castle where they will be available for owner reclaim and after stray hold adoption.
