Research and other projects relevant to higher education law, including daily reviews of cases and other developments and preparation of corresponding summaries.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conducts daily reviews of higher education cases and other legal developments and documents and prepares corresponding summaries to be sent to members on a weekly basis and posted on the NACUA website.
Works closely with the Director and Assistant Directors of Legal Resources to handle inquiries and requests from members for legal information and assistance.
Prepares documents for electronic delivery on the NACUA website and reviews other websites on a daily basis to monitor current legal issues affecting higher education.
Drafts and edits correspondence and reports to members.
Edits content of legal resource pages on the NACUA website on a regular basis.
Monitors the Association’s listserv, NACUANET, on a daily basis; responds to messages on NACUANET with NACUA resources; provides training and assistance to members, as needed, on the use of NACUANET.
Works on special projects and assumes additional responsibilities as assigned by Director of Legal Resources.
Participates in weekly Legal Resources meetings.
A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
Excellent legal research, analytical, writing, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments effectively
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to work cooperatively and function successfully in a team-oriented, fast-paced work environment with both members and staff
Prior experience with writing and editing legal material
