GENERAL SUMMARY: Reporting to the assistant director for athletic camps and external relations, the coordinator for athletic communications and game management will promote and coordinate public relations for the Athletic Department, which includes marketing, promotion, statistics and reporting of the athletic programs within the guidelines of applicable laws, NCAA rules and regulations, and USA South Athletic Conference rules and practices. This position will also manage all aspects of game day operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Coordinates the promotion of activities for the ASC athletic department. Manages and maintains the athletic department website, in a timely and consistent basis, which serves as a main source of athletic communication with prospective and current students, alumnae and other ASC community members. Manages and maintains social media presence for purposes of recruiting and information updates within the Athletic Department. Coordinates a comprehensive daily media relations effort designed to generate and maintain interest in Agnes Scott College athletics. Coordinates all media relations and operations during games. Establishes, communicates and enforces media relations and post-game interview policies. Manages and coordinates public address announcers and message board operators. Coordinates and supervises all game day operations including event staff, statistics, reporting and marketing. Designs, writes and edits some athletic department publications and news releases; manages all media guides, press releases and game stories under direction of the assistant director for athletics. Initiates, coordinates and conducts campaigns to achieve conference, regional and national honors for student-athletes and coaches. Compiles and updates appropriate statistics for all ASC athletic programs; maintains records, statistics and results of players, teams and coaches. Provides appropriate statistical reporting to the NCAA and USA South Athletic Conference in accordance with applicable laws and guidelines. Establishes effective interpersonal relationship with coaches, players, administration, students and the public; collaborate with coaching staff to determine and implement best practices for event and game day operations for each sport. Provides timely and accurate responses to media and public informational requests. Coordinates the design and placement of ads in game programs, public address announcements and coordination of game day promotions. Coordinates and manages web streaming for athletic events. Hires, trains, schedules and supervises game and event staff. Serves as a resource for other athletic staff members.
