Marketing Communications Specialist (Assistant Director of Social Media, Football) Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the position of Assistant Director of Social Media, Football.
The candidate should be a creative and motivated individual eager for hands-on experience in the area of digital and social media. Primary responsibilities include community management and content creation for the Penn State Football program. Responsibilities also include: collaborating with members of the Athletic Administration, Athletic Communications and Athletics Marketing departments on content and scheduling of messaging; conducting research to support content strategies; tracking metrics for social media profiles on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, etc.; posting content to aforementioned social spaces; helping facilitate in-game social initiatives; and other duties as assigned. Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as a proficiency in graphic design and recording and editing video are a plus. Self-starters who are active in social media and other digital spaces themselves are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have a basic knowledge of digital media tools and platforms. This position reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Creative Services and Brand Management. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Familiarity with NCAA, B1G, and Penn State rules and regulations preferred Weekend and night work will be required. Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment is required. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job responsibilities. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to three publicly available background checks. This is a fixed term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding.
