Under the general direction of the Director, Membership Marketing, the Membership Associate:
Travels to 8-10 conferences a year to promote NACo membership recruitment and retention (two NACo conferences and independently to 6-8 state association of counties conferences)
Maintains membership projects such as roster updates from state associations of counties;
Prepares new membership packets and mailings as well as prospective member packets;
Responds to initial inquiries on NACo membership, NACo Live Healthy Prescription/Dental/Health Discounts Program, other NACo membership benefit programs and directs members/nonmembers to other NACo staff members as needed;
Discusses/prepares frequent state association membership/exhibit booth coordination and promotional information for association staff and officers who will be attending state association meetings, and follows up with those persons subsequent to such meetings;
Keeps tabs on State Association of Counties calendar for material requests and schedules and fulfills promotional materials requests on an ongoing basis throughout the year.
Provides and updates materials inventory including in-house and off-site materials;
Provides backup support to membership staff who are on travel by answering phone and email inquiries;
Assists with voting and credentials process for the NACo annual conference business meeting including staffing credentials booth at the NACo annual conference and assisting with the credentials process as needed;
Ensures that the membership database system is up to date and accurate and makes database updates as directed;
Trains staff in use of membership netForum (Abila) database;
Performs administrative duties such as: disbursement voucher preparation, letter merges and email verification calls;
Executes direct phone calls to members/nonmembers on behalf of NACo membership recruitment and retention, NACo Live Healthy Prescription/Dental/Health Discounts Program, retention calls and other calls as assigned.
Assists with large scale in house mailings such as credentials mailings and membership marketing mailings
Administers NACo’s Ambassador Program which pairs existing member mentors with new members and new conference attendees; and
Performs other duties as assigned.
The Membership Associate must possess the following skills and qualifications;
Good oral, written and interpersonal skills;
Good marketing and customer service skills and abilities;
Organized and attention to detail;
Knowledge of office automation systems especially Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel; and familiarity with database systems.
Ability to work with minimal supervision;
Sensitivity and tactfulness in dealing with personalities
