The Assistant Director for Donor Development is part of a dynamic team focused on maximizing support from individual donors and through events to support the best-in-class work of The Door, University Settlement and Broome Street Academy Charter High School. These three affiliate organizations share a common commitment to assisting the most vulnerable New Yorkers to transform their lives through innovative and effective programs. Working with the Director of Development, the CEO, and other executive staff, the Assistant Director works to create and implement a strategy to engage individuals in our organizations’ work with the goal of gaining their financial investment. The organization is seeking to develop a major donor program, and the Assistant Director will be at the forefront of implementing this signature effort. Additionally, the Assistant Director will have supervisory responsibility for the development and execution of all fundraising events.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in non-profit major gifts fundraising, donor development, or annual fund development essential; experience developing and implementing fundraising events of all sizes; supervisory experience required. Related experience will be considered.
Demonstrated experience closing major gifts and staffing a major giving effort.
Superior communication, writing, and editing skills; superior interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated experience creating and managing donor communications, events, and engagement plans.
Experience working one-on-one with board members, VIP donors and executive suite.
Superior ability to conceptualize a donor-centered, incremental effort over time, leverage the support and good will of various stakeholders, and move donors along in their engagement and investment.
Experience conducting prospect research and creating a pipeline of major donor prospects.
Exemplary organizational skills; knowledge of how to use a database to track and leverage donor information.
