Newberry College (NCAA D2), located in Newberry, SC, is seeking applicants for our Sports Performance Graduate Assistant. This position will report to the Director of Strength, Conditioning, and Sports Performance, and collaborate with coaches and staff to achieve the overall mission of Newberry College and the athletic department. The successful candidate’s employment includes full tuition waiver for Master of Science in Sports Management, off-campus housing, as well as a full meal plan.
JOB FUNCTIONS: 1.Design, implement, and manage in-season and off-season strength and conditioning programs for multiple men’s and women’s Olympic sports. 2.Assist with the daily operation of the football strength and conditioning program as needed. 3.Communicate daily with sports medicine staff regarding athletes’ health and return to play progress. 4.Collaborate with sport coaches of assigned teams to monitor athlete training loads (including sport-specific training and strength and conditioning) and athletic development. 5.Assist with the daily upkeep and maintenance of two athletic weight rooms. 6.Maintain professional working relationships with athletic training, academics, and respective coaching staff. 7.Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Strength, Conditioning, and Sports Performance.
The minimum qualifications for this position include admittance into the grad program; certification by the National Strength & Conditioning Association, Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association, or USA Weightlifting; and up-to-date CPR/AED/First Aid certification. Candidates must possess outstanding communication skills - both written and oral, have the ability to manage large groups of athletes in a safe and organized manner, possess great initiative, and possess a solution-oriented mindset that maximizes the student-athlete experience.
