ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND In the heart of the nation’s capital with additional programs in Virginia, the George Washington University (GW) was created by an Act of Congress in 1821. Today, GW is the largest institution of higher education in the District of Columbia. The University offers comprehensive programs of undergraduate and graduate liberal arts study, as well as degree programs in medicine, public health, law, engineering, education, business and international affairs. DESCRIPTION Reporting to the Executive Vice President & CFO, the Vice President (VP), Finance and Treasurer is responsible for managing and directing all banking relations, invested operating and endowment funds, and financial reporting for cash, investments, and bonds, while mitigating fiscal risk to the University. As part of managing the liquidity needs of the University, the VP, Finance and Treasurer also oversees the operations for accounts payable and receivable, including student accounts. The VP monitors investment approaches to maintain a healthy cash position while ensuring timely debt service payments and providing liquidity for operations. The VP manages and directs the debt portfolio and advises on strategy for debt issuance and financing instruments. The VP also oversees the risk management function for the University. Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 10 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree in a relevant area of study plus 8 years of relevant professional experience. Relevant experience must include at least 4 years of senior leadership/executive level experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Preferred Qualifications: Undergraduate degree required; Graduate degree preferred.
