The Boulevard of Chicago seeks a Development Director to work out of its downtown office.
The Development Director is responsible for all revenue raising and development activities.
Lead application, negotiation, reporting and compliance processes for more than $1 million in governmental funding. Research and develop new sources of funding.
Cultivate relationships and lead development of proposals and reporting for foundation, corporate, religious and community donors. Research and develop new sources of funding
Lead individual giving and major donor solicitation, including strategies, prospect identification and cultivation, coaching of staff and board, and management of annual and other appeals.
Work closely with Development Chair to engage Board of Directors in active fundraising and to implement the long-range plans of THE BOULEVARD.
Provide leadership and support for Board fundraising committees, including Special Event Committee, and Individual Initiative.
Work closely with CEO and Finance Directors to ensure stewardship of funds and fiscal stability of agency.
Manage volunteer coordinator and in-kind program, including recruitment of volunteers, creation and management of volunteer opportunities, and evaluation and tracking.
Manage Development Assistant in accurate and up-to-date maintenance of donor database, files and other information.
Develop annual Development Plan and regular revenue and cash flow projections.
Implements the Strategic Plan prepared by the Development Committee and Board by preparing yearly work plans to incorporate all components of yearly fundraising plan.
Prepares monthly Board reports.
10-plus years of fundraising professional experience in a nonprofit organization or health care industry;
demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources)
Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Ability to influence and engage a wide range of players and build long-term relationships

For more than 23 years, The Boulevard of Chicago (formerly Interfaith House) has been a recognized leader in the network of organizations working to address the challenges faced by Chicago’s homeless population. The Boulevard is a unique organization, dedicated to helping homeless men and women with medical recovery needs that cannot be appropriately addressed in a shelter environment. We provide program participants with medical respite care, interim housing, a wide variety of support services, and help obtaining stable housing.
