Briar Cliff University (Iowa) invites applications for the position of Director of Athletics to lead and direct all aspects of the university’s athletic program. The Athletic Director is responsible for the development, management, coordination and supervision of a competitive intercollegiate athletics program fielding 20 intercollegiate teams with more than 35 coaches, graduate assistants and staff members and comprising over 450 student athletes. The Athletic Director also provides visionary leadership, strategic planning and policy development for the athletics program, maintains an athletics program that is committed to the university’s mission and strategic priorities, administers the overall athletic budget, oversees the fiscal operations of the department, recruits and manages the coaching staff, develops relationships with key constituents and supporters and ensures compliance with all Briar Cliff University, Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) policies, rules and regulations. The Athletic Director is also responsible for the management of athletic facilities, fundraising efforts in support of athletic programs and scholarships and working with enrollment management. As the spokesperson for the department the Athletic Director promotes both athletic excellence and academic success and has a visible presence in the community. The Athletic Director reports directly to the President of Briar Cliff University.
Required qualifications are: Master’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of senior level experience at the NAIA, NCAA level, knowledge of both NAIA rules and regulations, excellent organizational, managerial, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to details.
