Girl Scouts of Central Maryland is embarking on its first major capital campaign and is seeking an experienced, responsible and focused major gifts officer to serve as the Campaign Director and Director of the Council’s major gifts program. The incumbent will work directly with the CEO and campaign steering committee to cultivate and solicit the top 50 prospects, and manage a personal portfolio of the next 50 prospects.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Campaign Responsibilities: 65%
Overall campaign management and organization including pipelines, prospect tracking, strategy, task assignment and maintenance of timelines
Staff support to Campaign Steering Committee, Board Solicitation Committee, and liaison with campaign counsel
Maintain campaign calendar, schedule meetings, prepare talking points, presentations, and meeting prep for CEO, CDO, board members and campaign volunteers
Write campaign correspondence including proposals, meeting requests, and follow up
Major Gifts Responsibilities: 25%
Maintain, update, and enforce a moves management system that drives cultivation and solicitation strategies for major gift prospects
Ensure that prospect data is up-to-date, accurate, and properly documented
Contribute to strategy sessions with the Development Team, providing information to facilitate the forward movement of prospect relationships
Prospect Research Responsibilities: 10%
Proactively identify campaign prospects through research on individuals, foundations, and corporations.
Produce in-depth, well-written prospect profiles and briefings based on analysis and data-mining using the donor database and external sources
Provide relevant alerts to Development Team by using news/web content services to track developments in the careers and lives of key donors and prospects

Engage in research to identify potential prospects.
Analyze data and information to create campaign strategies.
Maintain accurate records and timelines.
Create correspondence, proposals, reports and presentations.
Support the campaign steering and board solicitation committees as needed.
Five years of successful experience as a major gifts officer with an established not for profit organization required.
Demonstrated experience managing successful Capital Campaigns.
Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work well in a team setting, and the ability to use Raiser’s Edge NXT to manage a major gifts portfolio.
Self-starter with the ability to identify and launch initiatives independently.
Ability to demonstrate analytical skills to initiate and perform complex analyses and organize information to identify philanthropic patterns, tendencies and relationships among individuals, corporations and foundations.
Ability to use on-line databases and other sources to locate financial and philanthropic information.
Excellent writing, analytical, presentation and research skills.
