The position of Assistant Coach will report directly to the Head Coach for Women's Basketball and will assist the Head Coach in all areas of running a women's basketball program. This position will assist the Athletics department toward a Top 25 Women's Basketball program.
Essential Functions: Recruitment of student athletes that are consistent with the mission and goals set forth by both, the head coach and the University Coaching, teaching, scouting, evaluating and developing student athletes. Assisting with team travel, compliance and tracking academic progress of student athletes. Game preparation Public relations. Other duties as assigned by the head coach, including but not limited to, assisting with camps and clinics, community service and public relation programs for the women's basketball and/or athletics department.
A Bachelor's Degree is required.
A minimum of one year of basketball coaching experience is required. Collegiate basketball coaching experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with athletes, recruits, coaching staff and administration. The ability to communicate effectively in writing is required. A strong customer service orientation is essential.
Candidate must also possess strong organizational, planning and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks. A strong focus on attention to detail is essential.
Candidates must possess strong problem solving skills with the ability to think collaboratively and strategically. Strong knowledge of college basketball recruiting and NCAA rules is essential. A working knowledge of computers and office operations is strongly preferred.
