- Collaborate with coaching staff for assigned sport(s) to design and implement academic support plans for student-athletes including consistent and frequent feedback. - Develop, coordinate and implement individualized academic support plans for intensive monitoring of identified student-athlete population including the assessment and evaluation of individual students to determine needs for support. - Collaborate with academic advisors to review; student athletes’ class scheduling, degree plans, tutorial services, Northern Arizona University and NCAA academic standing and progress toward degree. - Work collaboratively with campus offices to engage additional resources for student athletes (ie learning specialist, tutoring, academic mentoring, Disability Resources, etc). - Assist with the implementation and coordination of a Student-Athlete Development program, not limited to Student-Athlete Orientation, Earn Your P.L.A.I.D., etc. - Assist in recruiting process- meet with prospective student athletes on official/unofficial visits. - Coordinate data management process of Academic Performance Program for assigned population. - Stay current with national, regional and local governing organizations (N4A, NCAA Regional Rules, etc). - May supervise or oversee Graduate Assistants, post eligibility students and/or interns. - Perform administrative duties essential to the daily functioning of the department.
Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution
At least 1-2 years’ experience working with Division I student-athletes in an academic support setting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Previous experience with designing and implementing assessments of student-athlete academic need
Experience working in an academic setting with at-risk student-athletes
Demonstrated ability to problem solve when various points of view exist
Former student-athlete or coach
