The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), an NCAA DI institution and member of Conference USA, is seeking a Strength & Conditioning Coach to work with the Football program. The Strength & Conditioning Coach is responsible for developing and implementing team and individualized conditioning programs for student-athletes participating in football. The individual is also responsible for designing total conditioning programs applicable to football during pre-season, in-season and off-season periods and separate programs of weight training, running, flexibility or secondary rehabilitation to meet the needs of individual position areas. The Strength & Conditioning Coach assists coaches in evaluating individual player performance and potential to ensure proper supervision of student-athletes in the weight room, including instruction in techniques of training with machines and free-weights, as well as safety procedures. The individual also adheres to all institution, conference and NCAA rules and regulations and reports all known NCAA violations in accordance with institutional, conference and NCAA policies and guidelines.
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience. Work experience may not substitute for the education requirement. Candidate must be currently certified and maintain current certification through a nationally accredited strength and conditioning certification program. Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships. Candidate must also possess strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and the ability to work a non-standard work week.
