TO DEVELOP, PROMOTE AND SUPERVISE ALL FACETS OF THE COLLEGE’S WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM. OVERSEE THE ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE OF ALL STUDENT-ATHLETES THAT ARE INVOLVED WITH THE PROGRAM. MANAGE THE FUNDRAISING EFFORTS FOR THE WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM. PROVIDE VISION AND LEADERSHIP FOR THE WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Ensures that all relevant institutional, conference and NCAA rules and regulations are followed including, but not limited to: player eligibility, recruiting, financial student aid, scheduling and academic progress.
2.Recruit quality athletes capable of pursuing the baccalaureate degree in accordance with the rules and regulations of the governing bodies and in such a manner that reflects the best interests of the program and the university.
3.Coordinate and oversee the recruitment of all prospects. Negotiate scholarship offers to prospects.
4.Participate in annual continuing education pertaining to NCAA rules.
5.Design a competitive schedule that maximizes athlete development and performances.
6.Relate in a positive and effective manner with officials, opponents’ coaching staff, high school coaches, parents, media and the public.
7. Demonstrate sincere interest and provide strong leadership in the personal, athletics, and academic development of student athletes.
8.Participate in the formulation of budgets and ensure that the women’s volleyball program operates within the approved budgetary parameters.
9.Responsible for ordering and caring for all equipment and uniforms.
10.Provide information relating to the accomplishments and endeavors of the team and individual team members to the Associate Athletics Director of Sports Information.
11.Assist the Athletics Director and the Head Athletics Trainer with administering the athletics insurance program by:
a.Ensuring that each participant has a physician’s clearance prior to any participation. b.Submitting a team roster and any changes that occur, for insurance purposes. c.Ensuring that all injured players receive proper medical care and rehabilitation. d.Ensuring that all official documents have been signed and returned to the Sports Medicine office prior to any participation.
12.Assist the Associate Athletic Director/ Compliance in preparing eligibility documentation by submitting and accurate and complete roster well in advance of the first playing date or scrimmage.
13.Establish a vision for the program. Plan, prepare and execute practice and game plans, strategies and alternatives which are designed to bring success to the program.
14.Submit all travel/transportation requests to the Associate Athletic Director for Internal Affairs.
15.Coordinate all fundraising activities for the women’s volleyball program, keeping in mind the goal set forth by the Athletics Director for the program. Continually looking to create new initiatives to raise money for the Athletic department and the football program.
16.Maintain a positive image in the community and with donors. As well as maintaining a positive relationship with the College community.
17.Make Hiring and Firing decisions for the women’s volleyball program.
18.Provide supervision, development and evaluation of staff.
Education: B.S. degree required from a recognized college or university. Master’s preferred
Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of volleyball coaching experience.
Specialized Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Competence in leadership, and decision making. Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong initiative, detail and follow up skills with students athletes and staff members. Demonstrates professional image on and off the field. Skills in counseling, and mentoring athletes. Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Word.
Physical Requirements: Work is performed in a coaching, athletic, competitive out door environment. Must be in excellent physical health to handle fast pace environment
