The National Communication Association (NCA) invites candidates to apply for the position of Membership Associate.
NCA’s mission is to advance communication as the discipline that studies all forms, modes, media, and consequences of communication through humanistic, social scientific, and aesthetic inquiry. NCA represents the nearly 7,000 scholars, teachers, and practitioners who are its members by enabling and supporting their professional interests in research and teaching. NCA seeks a detail-oriented, member-focused individual for a full-time, exempt position that will serve as the primary point of contact for all membership inquiries as well as data management and reporting. This position will report to the Assistant Director for Governance and Membership.
Manage membership join and renewal processes
Manage the membership database/AMS to ensure accurate data, good member service, and productive use of available information by users
Collect, track, report and analyze membership data
Facilitate the logistical components of membership recruitment and retention efforts
Oversee the delivery of some member benefits
Respond to a variety of relevant requests for assistance from NCA members and potential members
Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Director for Governance and Membership.
Bachelor’s degree with some experience in a membership-based organization, experience in a learned or scholarly society preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated member service proficiency, exhibiting high standards of timeliness and responsiveness
Experience with database software required; Experience with Impexium preferred.
Ability to travel to annual convention required (1-week)
