Under direction from the Director, Eugene D. Smith Leadership Institute, the Program Manager will create and maintain speaker profiles, and a program database to assist in the alignment of sport-specific LIVE LIFE topics and organize events to help realize efficiencies among all (36) sports and 1,000 student-athletes. The Program Manager will review and approve all speaker requests and programs by previewing presentations and/or confirming references and testimonies about the respective programs and speakers. The Program Manager will make recommendations for student-athlete specific annual events and assist in the logistics and execution of those events. The Program Manager will work alongside the Director in the advising and coordination the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and will lead the efforts in the planning and execution of annual SAAC events. The program manager works closely with the Director to create a well-rounded experience for student-athletes on the Buckeye Road Trips, and participates as an advisor on the Road Trip. Monitor the student-athlete usage of the REAL LIFE APP and assist the student-athletes with reviewing resumes, cover letters and conducting mock interviews. Additionally, the program manager will create and manage industry-specific networking opportunities for student-athletes. Responsible for the maintenance of the Eugene D. Smith Leadership Institute website and keeping all program materials current and up to date. The successful candidate will be actively engaged in all areas and initiatives of the Eugene D. Smith Leadership Institute. This position works in a creative and collaborative team environment where change is embraced and innovation is encouraged.
Bachelor's degree in Sport Administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience working in a higher education office with demonstrated success in a student service oriented environment required. Experience in planning and managing high quality and complex events and programs. Excellent organizational skills, high-level communication and interpersonal skills (speaking and writing). Master's degree and 3-5 year experience working in a Collegiate Athletic Department desired.
