Frostburg State University Athletics Department is seeking its inaugural Head Acrobatics & Tumbling Coach. The head coach will be responsible for the overall administration, success, performance, and conduct of the FSU Bobcats acrobatics & tumbling program to begin competition in the fall of 2020. This is a 12-month full-time appointment and includes University System of Maryland benefits package. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
About the Program: Acrobatics & Tumbling becomes the institution's 22nd intercollegiate sport (10 men/12 women). It is the first sport to be added to the varsity lineup since Frostburg added men’s lacrosse in 2010 and softball in 1997. Frostburg women’s athletics boasts a rich history of success both on the field/court and in the classroom. Frostburg women student-athletes have garnered 111 All-American honors and 16 CoSIDA Academic All-American honors. Over the last 10 years, Bobcat women have grabbed six All-American awards in four different sports.

Responsibilities: Administer the acrobatics & tumbling program in accordance with NCATA, MEC, NCAA and Frostburg State University regulations and policy. Recruit, retain, and graduate academically successful student-athletes. Supervise graduate assistant or intern assistant coaches. Promote the acrobatics & tumbling program through public relations activities, alumni, and friends of Frostburg State University. Grow interest in the sport of Acrobatics & Tumbling throughout the state of Maryland and surrounding regions. Other related duties as assigned. This position will have a second duty to be determined by the Athletics Director based on the selected individual’s qualifications. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to overall departmental philosophy and collaboration.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. At least 2 years of coaching experience at the high school and/or collegiate level. Knowledge of NCATA rules and regulations. Proven ability to recruit student-athletes.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree. Playing experience at the collegiate level.
Other: Any combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a related field and progressively responsible related work experience may be considered.
Frostburg State University is located in the appalachian highlands (elevation 2,000 feet) of western Maryland. The main campus covers 260 acres within the town limits of Frostburg (population 7,500). The
University also offers courses at the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown and on the Catonsville Campus of the Community College of Baltimore County.
The local region is rich in both history and outdoor activities. Students can visit nearby recreational areas—Rocky Gap, New Germany, and Deep Creek Lake State Parks—which offer camping, boating, swimming, hiking, and skiing.
