Goucher enrolls approximately 1,500 undergraduates, 84% of whom live on campus, and 1,200 graduate students.
Goucher College seeks a graduate assistant to work in conjunction with the head womens’s lacrosse coach in all aspects related to the operation of the women’s lacrosse program. The graduate assistant must successfully enroll as a full-time graduate student in a qualifying program.
Responsibilities include effectively recruiting and retaining qualified student-athletes; and assisting with all aspects of coaching, planning, and day-to-day office operations and administrative tasks, including team practice, individual player evaluation and development, scouting, developing game plans, and travel competitions. Other responsibilities include assisting with the coordination of the department’s community service program and other duties as assigned by the head coach.
Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree at the time of appointment; minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA; and at least two years of driving experience on a state-issued license. The preferred candidate will have demonstrated success in playing lacrosse at the college level; recruiting at the college level; a strong knowledge of NCAA rules; and excellent communication and organizational skills. Applicants must be willing to work with various departments on campus including, but not limited to: admissions, facilities, development, academic advising, and student affairs.
This position, available beginning Fall 2019, is approximately 20 hours per week and will require weekend and evening work, including team travel. Compensation for this position will be offered as tuition remission and a competitive stipend. The successful candidate will be subject to a background check and driving records check as a condition of employment.
