DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with the Director of Athletics to supervise SCID (Smith College Inclusion and Diversity Committee). Facilitate the bi-weekly meetings of this group. Work with faculty from the Sherred Center to develop a program to help our coaches develop strategies for creating inclusive learning environments in their coaching. Work with each individual sports program to have the important conversations surrounding inclusion and diversity within the program. Plan programming for all new student athletes during the first week of the semester and programming in which all student athletes will participate at least once every year.
Collaborate with the Associate Director of Counseling Services to develop educational programming for student athletes and club sport athletes concerning mental health. Plan a mental health awareness event for DIII week. Plan and facilitate a plan for sexual violence education for the student athletes each year.
Co-supervise our SAAC group with the Head Lacrosse Coach. Facilitate bi-weekly meetings and all events planned and supported by SAAC. Participate as a member of our Leadership Committee made up of the Athletic Director, the Coordinator and 3-4 head coaches. This committee plans programming for our captains group and our Key Leaders. The Coordinator will be responsible for the logistics of all events that are planned.
Assist in planning and organizing all department special events including:
Athletic Hall of Fame Celebration
Athlete Alumnae Mentor Brunch
Alumnae Reunion Receptions
National Girls and Women’s Sports Day
NEWMAC Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship
NEWMAC Cross Country Championship
Invitational Tournaments in Cross Country, Volleyball, Field Hockey and Baksetball
Indoor/Outdoor Track Meets
Assist the Associate Athletic Director with compliance meetings during the fall semester and also with the compiling of the compliance files for each sport program.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree. Preference will be given to candidates with experience as a college athlete. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, good judgment, discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Computer skills should include word processing, database management, email communication, and good use of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
