PURPOSE OF POSITION – Plan and execute the broad-based membership and individual giving program of Arena Stage. Raise funds from individuals and families to support Arena Stage by personally cultivating and stewarding donors. Plan and execute the direct response program through mail, on-line, and more personal forms of engagement.
Solicit new annual fund donors, reengage lapsed donors, upgrade existing members, and renew existing gifts through a combination of mail, phone and in person visits.
Maintain a high working knowledge of Inner Circle Members (annual donors of $1,500 and above) and provide excellent management and stewardship of current and prospective Inner Circle members in coordination with the Major Gifts and Campaign office.
Work with Major Gifts and Campaign office to help develop strategy for upgrading donors for mutli-year campaign gifts.
Develop strategy and provide oversight for direct mail, digital, web and onsite solicitation campaigns with the support of the Membership Manager, who manages solicitation makings and personally works to upgrade CAST members into the Inner Circle and the Membership Coordinator.
Refine strategies for growing the mid-level donors (Inner Circle members) and maximize giving from current members.
Supervise the Membership Coordinator in the stewardship of donors and ongoing support of individual giving efforts including donor recognition, benefit fulfillment, reporting and analysis and database coordination.
Manage monthly prospect review sessions with the support of the Research Analysis and Development Coordinator.
Develop annual fund income and expense projections for individual giving.
Manage telefundraising campaigns as needed.
Manage stewardship, tracking, and cultivation of planned giving donors and prospects.
Prepare quarterly Development reports for the Chief Development Officer.
Work with the Chief Development Officer, Director of Annual Fund, and Managing Director to integrate marketing and fundraising strategy.
Staff Board Committee meetings, as requested.
Work with the Director of Development Operations and Events to streamline database management for individual giving.
Other duties as necessary to support the Development Department.
Evening and weekend work will be required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS- Bachelor’s degree and five to seven years of experience in fundraising with experience in direct response and annual giving. Cultural fundraising experience a plus.
SKILLS REQUIRED- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills a must. Knowledge of and experience in individual giving necessary. Knowledge of and ability to use database like Tessitura and other technical resources effectively. Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in oral and written communication in an interpersonal or group setting. Creativity, strategic thinking and careful attention to detail.
COMPUTER SKILLS UTILIZED: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) Tessitura, Mail2, Lexis Nexis, Wealth Engine, iWave and other donor research software.
