Cerro Coso Community College Baseball- Assistant Coach Summary
Cerro Coso Community College Baseball is currently hiring for the position of Assistant Baseball Coach. The position is for the academic school year of 2019-2020 with the potential to begin earlier to accommodate recruiting efforts in preparation for the year.
Cerro Coso Community College Baseball competes in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference of the CCCAA. The baseball team has improved on the field over the past years has immediate goals of building a qualified coaching staff. Cerro Coso CC is an academically rigorous institution and has high expectations for on the field competition. An appropriate candidate to this position must possess similar high-level expectations in areas of integrity, ethics, and improvement to match the Cerro Coso standard.
A qualified candidate will have a minimum experience coaching or playing at the four-year college level with an understanding of the academic and athletic demands expected of a student-athlete. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of current pitching practices, techniques, and philosophy. The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse population, while adhering to guidelines set forth by the California Community College Athletic Association, the Inland Empire Athletic Conference, and Cerro Coso Community College's rules and regulations.
The incumbent will fulfill two primary roles. The assistant coaching role fulfills duties that are diverse and seasonal which include on the field coaching, recruiting, fundraising, off-season training, strength and conditioning, organizing camps/clinics, community outreach and general support of the head coach. The second role associated with the position is that of an academic support specialist to the athletic department. In this capacity, the incumbent will report to the athletic director and work directly with all student-athletes in a role to support their academic progress. Duties included to this assignment are monitoring athlete study hall, meeting with student-athletes on a scheduled basis, supporting the counseling department with follow up to student-athletes, and maintaining an overall understanding of the academic status to student-athlete academic success.

Fall 2019-Spring 2020 Semesters Semester Hours: 500 per semester Daily Activity: An average of 5-6 hours per day.

The position will be responsible for assisting the athletic program in a variety of academic support capacities. This person will support the Athletic Director, Counseling, and Learning Assistance Coordinator to oversee Student-Athletes in order to maintain their academic success. Examples of this role are:
Assist with academic monitoring and follow-up for student athletes
Assist with study hall coordination
Assist with grade checks and follow up
This position will be responsible for supporting baseball and the athletic department to stay current in areas of best practices of coaching and athletic supports. This person will also represent Cerro Coso Community College when necessary in the community as needed:
Assist coach with community outreach and communication to parents, staff and faculty
Participate in coaching meetings
Participate in appropriate training and professional development
This position will serve as the lead assistant to the Head Baseball Coach, and is expected to perform all necessary tasks as such:
Assist with recruiting activities
Support the planning and coordination of equipment needs and inventory
Assist with field maintenance
Assist with strength and conditioning program for players
Provide oversight with pitcher development and game management
Assist with offense where needed
