The Communications Intern will work closely with full-time staff and serve as the primary contact for Women's Ice Hockey and other assigned sports while assisting with other programs and special projects. The intern will work 40+ hours per week and may work nights and weekends based on the schedule of OSU athletic events. Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Stat Crew software.
This is an entry level, career based internship and is intended for professional development of an applicant with only six to 24 months of practical experience. This position is focused on furthering knowledge and skills in the field of athletics communications. Internship positions are appointed on an annual basis (with the possibility of renewal; two-year maximum appointment). This position works in a creative and collaborative team environment where change is embraced and innovation is encouraged.
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent/relevant work experience is required. Preferred qualifications include: Media relations or collegiate sports information experience; knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; excellent organizational, communication and media relations skills. Previous experience with web site publishing; previous experience with desktop publishing software (Outlook, InDesign, Photoshop, Excel, etc.); knowledge of Stat Crew software; some previous experience with video shooting/editing; ability to work athletic events, irregular schedules, weekends and evenings are required.
