Fountain Valley School of Colorado seeks an enthusiastic and experienced fundraising professional to join our development team. The ideal candidate will be a team player and possess excellent project management, communication and writing skills.
Overview: Reporting to the Director of Development, the Assistant Director of Development is a key member of the Development Team. In addition to fundraising, the Assistant Director of Development defines, manages and executes effective, long-term alumni programs, fundraising strategies, and volunteer engagement. The Assistant Director is responsible for the creation, implementation and coordination of programs with the goal of maintaining interest and involvement among Fountain Valley School’s constituents in order to increase FVS’s visibility, student enrollment and financial contributions. Qualifications include a BA/BS with experience in volunteer management, alumni/parent relations, grassroots organizing or a similar field, as well as strong attention to detail and organization, ability to handle multiple projects concurrently, excellent presentation skills—both oral and written—computer proficiency, proven project management experience and the ability to work independently. A willingness to work outside “normal” business hours is essential as peak periods and special events necessitate some evening and weekend hours. Commitment to the School’s culture of predictability and support and regular travel are required. Sense of humor welcome.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In conjunction with the Director of Development coordinate Annual Fund solicitations including mail and online appeals in conjunction with the overall Annual Fund effort
Manage and oversee FVS’s participation in Colorado Gives Day and FVS One Day (the School’s individual day of giving)
Administer, manage, support, and develop an annual fund portfolio and implement innovative strategies for renewal and rejuvenation of mid-level donors
Responsible for all aspects of the School’s alumni programs and volunteer engagement: assessment, recruitment, development of opportunities, role assignment, training, management
Oversee and manage Alumni Weekend and other events both on and off campus
In conjunction with the Director of Development create and implement a reunion giving program to enhance engagement, annual giving and attendance during milestone years
Other duties that accompany working at a boarding school (may include weeknight/weekend duty, advising, support of other programing)
Knowledge and Skills:
An understanding and commitment to philanthropy
Experience and comfort in soliciting financial support
Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills
Ability to direct volunteers and manage people
Driven to initiate new ideas
Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or other development database software is preferable
Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university required and experience in fundraising and nonprofit preferred
Must be able to travel on behalf of the School
