The University of Wyoming is currently seeking applications for the position of Director of Sports Nutrition for Football. This position will report to the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Administration in collaboration with the Director of Sports Performance-Football The successful candidate will be a person of integrity with high ethical standards and who will exhibit a strict adherence to NCAA, MWC, University and departmental rules regulations. Salary is commensurate with experience. •Serve as primary contact/consult with Executive Chef in meal planning for High Altitude Performance Center (HAPC) Training Table and other meals/fueling opportunities for football student-athletes (e.g., catered meals, pre-game/post game meals, holiday break training, competition fueling, etc.). •Provide appropriate nutritional interventions for football student-athletes including, but not limited to, weight management, management of diabetes, hypertension, lipid disorders, anemia, eating disorders and disordered eating, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, food allergies and intolerances, reducing inflammation, injury prevention & healing. •Assess and counsel football student-athletes and staff regarding appropriate and legal use of dietary supplements, regularly banned drugs, and restricted substances in compliance with sport governing bodies; e.g., NCAA, U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, World Anti-Doping Agency and the University of Wyoming Department of Intercollegiate (DIA) policies. •Provide recommendations regarding optimal body composition and weight for good health and performance for Division I football student-athletes. •Assess and analyze dietary practices and energy balance of football student-athletes. Create meal plans and intake recommendations based on assessed football student-athlete needs. •Collaborate with Sports Performance staff to develop and implement nutritional education materials including team talk presentations, fueling station education, and individual consult templates/handouts for football student-athletes and applicable coaches/staff. •Coordinate and conduct educational programming for football student-athletes throughout the year. •Conduct individual consult content to meet football student-athlete needs. •Effectively communicate with UW Athletics Physician/s, Sports Medicine and Sports Performance staff regarding consulted football student-athletes and plan of care. •Assist Sports Nutritionist for Olympic Sports when necessary in the management, training, mentorship, and evaluation of student interns to keep the Fueling Station clean and stocked adequately. •When necessary, assist Sports Nutritionist for Olympic Sports with the HAPC Fueling Station. (e.g., ordering/product selection, daily stocking, inventory, organization, cleaning, etc.). •Stay up to date with current nutrition and health issue research as relevant to needs of student-athletes, coaches, and Sports Medicine staff. •Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Exercise Physiology or related field;
1 year experience in clinical, culinary or sports nutrition; Board certified Registered Dietitian (RD) with the ability to obtain a Wyoming State; Licensure within 30 days of hire.
