Primary Function: Promote and manage synergies in the football program, by overseeing communications, content, and scheduling between the Head Varsity Coach, Football, and assistant coaches, support staff, student-athletes, and Division of Intercollegiate Athletics administration.
Participate directly in the recruiting process for all high school football recruits (prospective student-athletes) by serving as the primary point of contact for all direct contact with Head Varsity Football Coach, including but not limited to:
Manage branding strategy for Illinois Football, and, in particular, the head football coach, by coordinating and developing a communications plan and schedule for the Head Football Coach, in collaboration with other offices of primary contact within the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics (e.g., Academic Services, strategic communications, media relations, donor relations, etc.). Analyze the effectiveness of external and internal communications and implement changes as needed. Create, implement, and cultivate recruitment and outreach plans with key recruiting constituents such as ILHSFCA/OHSFCA/MHSFCA/IHSFCA. Develop and implement correspondence with high school coaches for recruitment, identification camps, clinics and general correspondence. Respond to individual inquiries regarding the University of Illinois football program, as well as communications directed to the head football coach. Comply with all NCAA rules surrounding official campus visits for recruits and their guardian/guest, including documenting all benefits received on the visit (game tickets, meals, etc.), direct campus tours, including serving as liaison between recruit and admissions, advising, and other academic areas of study, and other recruiting and pre-admission logistics. Create, send and document correspondence on behalf of the head football coach with prospective student-athletes, including managing print and social media communications. Generate instructional materials to distribute to student-athletes and coaches in preparation for practices and games. Construct and develop itineraries for multiple unofficial visits throughout the year. Direct coaches to gather and share information regarding recruits (invites, family names, guest, etc.). Advise and assist Head Varsity Football Coach in the preparation and creation of team meeting materials including, but not limited to adaptations of data analysis of football practices and position-specific drills and workouts to provide an evaluation of areas of strength/weakness, and formulation and implementation of drill/workout/play. Maintain knowledge of, and compliance with, specific NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and institution rules that relate to this position is required.
Bachelor’s degree in sports administration or related field.
Master’s degree preferred
At least one year of experience working in collegiate or professional football
Experience in Division I (FBS) football office preferred
Prior recruiting experience at Division I level preferred.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Starting Date: As soon as possible.
