Over the past 2.5 years, we have raised over $34 million towards our $40 million University fundraising initiative, including over $8.9 million for the new S.B. Duties: The Associate Athletic Director – Development will report directly to the Senior Associate Athletic Director – Development. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: serve as the campaign manager for athletic fundraising initiative which includes the day-to-day operations of a major fundraising campaign; supervise the external fundraising staff of four, including three athletic development officers and the Director of the Annual Fund; identify, cultivate and solicit major gifts, including planned gifts, for capital campaigns, scholarship endowments, and program support by managing a portfolio of approximately 125 donors and prospects; manage relationships with assigned donors; provide enhancement fundraising for specified athletic programs and support the annual fundraising efforts and special events of the ODAF; participate in special events and fundraising initiatives in support of ODU Athletics.
Required Education: Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree with experience that equates to a master’s degree, preferably in business or sports management.
Required Qualifications: Considerable fundraising experience of no less than five (seven) years in athletic development or related field. Considerable supervisory experience, preferably in the athletic development field. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate the athletic fundraising objectives to all constituents through personal visits, social media and special events. Ability to build relationships with all constituents, including University administration, ODAF board, community leaders, donors and co-workers. Demonstrated annual and major gift fundraising success. Demonstrated ability to oversee an athletic fundraising campaign. Ability to organize and manage staff and volunteers. Ability to work successfully as a team member. Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills. Proficient computer skills and working knowledge of database management systems. Must possess a strong work ethic and high integrity.
Conditions Of Employment: Position requires travel and occasional evening and weekend work.
