As part of the sports medicine team, direct the strength & conditioning programs for 17 intercollegiate teams and over 400 student-athletes. Develop the strength & conditioning program's core philosophy for the physical training of Purdue University's Intercollegiate non-football Student Athletes. Responsible for Performance Coaching applied to specific sports programs. Develop sports specific training programs. Implement strength, agility, speed, flexibility and conditioning programs for the student-athletes. Supervise strength & conditioning non-football staff. Develop and implement sport specific training programs and protocols. Approve budget equipment recommendations.
Bachelor’s Degree in area that provides a knowledge base in exercise physiology and athletic performance
Six years’ experience in strength and conditioning with all or part at the NCAA Division I level.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association required or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certification (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA)
Excellent communication (oral, written, presentation), planning, problem-solving, negotiation, organizational, analytical, and customer service skills
Personal computer and related software skills, e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, Internet, etc., necessary
Ability to analyze, interpret and communicate University policies and procedures
Interpersonal skills in dealing sensitively with a wide variety of constituents necessary
Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels
Must be able to handle multiple tasks and meet established deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to foster a participative supervisory style that utilizes the Core Behavioral Dimensions from the Performance Management process to successfully guide the work of others
Must possess a learning orientation in the area of sports performance protocols
