McNeese State University, a Division I member of the NCAA and the Southland Conference, is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong leadership and technical skills for a full-time position of Assistant AD – Development and Fundraising. This position will lead Athletic Fundraising Efforts under the direction of the Director of Athletics, and will implement goals and objectives as they relate to McNeese’s 16-sport NCAA Division I athletics program, The Southland Conference and NCAA policies and procedures.
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
Helps create and lead a coordinated program of fundraising initiatives that result in increased contributions to McNeese Athletics.
Researches, cultivates and solicits gift prospects and ensures donors receive proper stewardship and benefits.
Actively create, manage, and track a portfolio of donors; growing donor engagement, interest and gifts to McNeese Athletics.
Creates strategies and plans for increasing the number of donors, and the athletic department’s annual fund as well as develops tactics to escalate current donors to higher levels of giving.
Ability to work evenings and weekends with willingness to travel.
Work with sports programs, head coaches and administrators to ensure sport-specific fundraising initiatives are successful.
Recognizes opportunities to identify and cultivate new gift prospects and implements plans to do so.
Assists in preparing and/or directing the creation of fundraising marketing and communication materials.
Able to operate with a high degree of independence, make decisions, solve problems and adapt to shifting priorities and responsibilities.
Helps coordinate and communicate with the university’s development and alumni relations departments as well as other campus units.
Works to build relationships and goodwill within the community, helping to cultivate new fans and donors.
Records donor contact and communications within prospect management system.
Helps and takes part in various donor activities on game days as well as at other specific events.
Collaborate with the Director of Athletics and Associate Athletic Director on events and stewardship to develop, plan and operationalize donor events.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Required, Master’s Preferred
3-5 Years Athletic Fundraising Experience
Assists in regular department communications with donors (must possess strong communication skills)
Experience in customer service and effective problem solving
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems
Compiles and submits reports as required by University, Foundation, management, state, local, and federal regulatory agencies
Complies with all NCAA Rules and regulations as well as any State and University policies
department wide fundraising efforts
Thorough knowledge of fundraising and development practices and operations, as well as Southland Conference and NCAA rules
Ability to communicate with diverse audiences in a way they can and will effectively steward and advance the Athletics Department
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications and management skills
