The successful candidate will lead all aspects of four NCAA Division II intercollegiate sport programs: men’s and women’s indoor track & field, and men’s and women’s outdoor track & field and will work with the head men’s and women’s cross country coach to successfully recruit and retain a competitive roster. Responsibilities include: *Supervise and manage all track and field operations including, but not limited to, roster management, scheduling, travel operations, purchasing, budget management. *Work closely with support staff including athletic training and strength and conditioning for peak performance of the student-athletes. *Lead and manage assistant coaches including ongoing performance management reviews. *Organize, plan and conduct safe team training, practice and conditioning activities. *Produce quality teams capable of a representative finish in the respective NSIC Championships as determined by Athletics Administration. *Positively represent NSU at national, regional, state and local professional and service organization events. *Develop and manage ongoing alumni communication and fundraising activities in conjunction with the NSU Foundation and Athletics Administration. *Be responsible in all areas of team performance. *Maintain knowledge of, and compliance with, specific NCAA, NSIC, and institutional rules. *A commitment to excellence in coaching and community relations is expected, as coaches represent the Department of Athletics and the university in its overall promotion and public relations efforts.
NSU has a rich tradition of track & field success, with numerous All-Americans and multiple national champions. NSU is looking for a dynamic leader who will elevate these programs to the top tier of the highly competitive Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The head coach must be able to coach some combination of jumps/hurdles/sprints.
The head coach will work with the head cross Country coach and assistant track & field coach/throws on overall program direction. NSU also has 2 graduate assistants that will assist with coaching and operations of the programs, under the direction of the head coach.
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred. Minimum of three years of coaching experience is required. Demonstrated ability to recruit and sign student-athletes with potential for academic and athletic success also preferred.
