Oversees the medical services and health/well-being of student-athletes by managing care for injuries and illnesses, including oversight of behavioral health services and drug/alcohol abuse incurred by a diverse intercollegiate athletic population. Provides direction in servicing the medical needs of student-athletes and the operations of the Athletic Medicine Department of the Oregon Athletic Department. Responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the university, Pac-12 Conference and the NCAA.
Minimum Requirements • Medical degree from accredited institution. • MD Licensure – currently licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Oregon. • Current Drug Enforcement Administration registration for controlled substances. • Five years’ experience as team physician required, preferably at Division I institution or professional sports team. • Medical training in general medicine with orthopedic and/or sports medicine background.
Professional Competencies • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team, communicate with and foster cooperative relationships with student-athletes, medical professionals and staff. • Highly developed judgment skills and decision making. • Demonstrated expertise in working effectively with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications • Experience as team physician at Division I, Power 5 institution or professional sports team. • Experience working with multiple sports.
