The Head Swimming & Diving Coach/Aquatics Coordinator will coordinate all phases of men & women's swimming & diving program. Recruit for the swimming and diving team by developing a recruiting database by visiting high schools, clubs and meets. Guided by the Rhodes Vision, the Head Swimming & Diving Coach/Aquatics Coordinator should build a sense of community and enthusiasm around the swimming & diving program by engaging the student body, alumni, parents and fans. Strong relational skills with internal and external constituents are critical. Coordinate all aspects of pool program. Manage pool staff and hours during the summer. Maintain aquatic facility by performing routine maintenance such as monitoring water chemicals, backwashing filters and maintaining clean and safe deck and pool area. Coordinate all major maintenance needs with physical plant and outside pool vendors. Other duties include participating in development and fundraising activities with various constituents and/or other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Also serve as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. This is a full-time 12-month position.
The ideal candidate will have three years of previous coaching experience with a strong understanding of the DIII philosophy and its role at a private liberal arts institution. Certified Pool Operator license, lifeguard, LGI and/or WSI preferred. Maintaining a working relationship with campus colleagues, alumni, community members, and other constituents is key. They must also possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills, communicate effectively (verbal and written), have the ability to multi-task and operate within an extremely motivated, team oriented atmosphere. Must have the ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision. Must have knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
